neighbors looking out for neighbors

I called APD yesterday afternoon after noticing that my neighbor's front door was ajar and the door jam had been damaged. APD was prompt, professional and timely. However, I still am feeling uneasy knowing someone was brazen enough to break in her front door. Therefore, I have emailed our neighborhood officer representatives and requested that the East Austin officers step up there patrols in the neighborhood during the late afternoon and evening hours to discourage illegal activity in the future. 

I also want to add that all neighbors, including you and other dog walkers be diligent and aware of your surroundings because I witnessed at least 3 folks walk directly by her house. Yet I was the only one that noticed that the neighbor's door was ajar and contacted the police. 

This neighborhood still has a bad element that make poor decisions that may cause damage/harm to our homes and overall community. So please remember to look up and around when walking in the neighborhood and don't hesitate to contact the local authorities to address concerns. I would like to believe we are all doing our part to look after each other in our community.
